Years ago, a mate of mine went to Japan as an interpreter.
He did not speak one word of Japanese but spent all his time preventing stuff ups like this one.
You might say, he was a sort of proof-reader.
Eventually he learnt Japanese, married a Japanese lady, and became a full-time interpreter for a living.
