@Marum: Have you ever heard of a “mass forged” metal? I can’t find a reference to it.
Actually. If they didn’t chrome the door-handles, and left them plain dark grey, you would know when they were getting ready to break. Cause you could see the fatigue lines in the plastic. Just like you can, on those dark green plastic outdoor chairs.
@DnT 0439. They probably mean this: What is the difference between drop forging and press forging? Differences Between Drop Forging and Press Forging. Drop forging is when half of the die is dropped from a height onto the other half of the die, which will contain the hot metal workpiece to be formed. Drop forging is more suitable for mass production. You can use a bloody great press for this, like they do in the Automotive Manufacturing Process.
