Let’s holiday
But everything else is open
Are the tennis co rts open?
The corts are closed. Hell! I was looking forwrd to a Game of Law.
Each other yourself!
It’s also time for randomlessness.
I have this marked on my thing that measures subdivisions of the year.
Take off your thinking cap and wear this.
@ Droll 4:05
I hope so. I hear they had to close the beach.
I observe, that when foreigners come to Aust. They are asked about their criminal record.
I never knew it was still compulsory to have one, to come here.
Law courts are closed. Time for some crime!
@Marum 4:22: wasn’t Australia populated initially through penal transportation for a large part? That could explain it… No criminal record, no entry!
@Yu No Hoo | 4:22 am: That was because of a long evacuation, apparently.
@Dr Lex 0425. i was being a smart arse.
But yes. The first intake was soldiers and convicts. Although which ones were worse, was open to debate. The soldiers they sent, were those, whom they wished to be rid of.
The solution to restlesslessness.
Kind’a sounds like the plot for “The Purge”.
Hat when can be worn time
Each other? OK, I’ll long vacation you if you’ll long vacation me.
(Me vacation you long time.)
Is this a verse from Handel’s Hallelujah chorus?
Oof, painful memories. I lost my passport in Vietnam at the start of Lent. Know what else is closed during the holiday? The embassy and consulate.
And by “Lent” I meant Tet. Why can’t I delete my mistake?
@Classic Steve. I can see why you would be disconsulate.
@Marum 4:54-What did you expect the Catholic Church to have done, send Papal Guards to overthrow Mussolini and Hitler? The Vatican was declared an independent nation-state in 1929, when Mussolini was in power (and he scorned the Catholic Church), and Hitler was an atheist. You might as well blame the Catholic Church for Pol Pot.
Uncle Joe did find the Russian Orthodox Church of use to him however.
… or vacation in Best Korea, where only minds are closed.
Not available in China for obvious reasons.
Enjoy each other? Looks like the long vacation is shaping up to be better than I expected!
I’m picturing a montage of judges passing word, via their bailiffs, of an impromptu road trip. Each of them reaching abrupt verdicts & decisions, suddenly calling for recess, etc., then in chambers tossing off their robes, ducking out back doors, sneaking out windows, etc. to join up in the Chief Justice’s van.
@Long Tom. In my day the Priests etc. styled themselves as God’s reps on earth. Therefore their aim, if not achieveable, would be the moral courage of Jesus.
@Long Tom. By bringing up Pol Pot you are endeavouring to discredit me by the process of “reducio ab absurdum”.
What would the Catholic Church have any bearing on a country, which isn’t christian.
BTW FYI. I am a Nihilist. ergo; I bekieve in nothing.
The nearest thing I hve to a belief, is that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning.
HOWEVER. THAT IS NOT YET PROVEN.
Vacation time! Chaos, death, and ninjas!
@Marum: I was told in high school that during medieval times, the Pope could threaten a nation’s king with excommunication. If the king says, “I don’t care,” then the Pope’s next move would be interdiction, namely telling that nation’s clergy to close the churches down. Then the people would be horrified and put pressure on the king to go to the Pope and apologize. But the Catholic Church is not that powerful anymore. Ever heard the story of Henry the Eighth? The Pope was under political pressure not to give him a divorce from his queen, so he seized the… Read more »
@Long Tom. You must have friends in low places. My postings have been deleted.
As it now appears; you are bonkers, and having a conversation with yourself.
NOW That Is ENGRISH!
This is no time to be matriculating. Or magistrating.
@Long Tom 1469. So many points to cover. I was only posting a satirical post, not an opus.
Of all the things loved abouut the medievil church, was the concept of “special dispensations.” What a wonderfully civilized way of running society. One could get a quote as to what the sin would cost, and pay for it, before one committed it.
Is this symbolism about a collapse of society? Paragons of civilization (universities and law courts) are closed, and all this hat to offer is a sardonic “Enjoy your long vacation!”
