@72rd I think you will find that it is U239 – Half-life 24,100 years. There were also heaps of it burning by the sies of roads, which forms U235 or 234. Which, when breathed in, is a known carcinogen.
238 – 239 are used because they are cheaper. The shorter haf-life, helps not at all.
