@markm: That’s true, as any student of Latin knows, but there seems to be no worldwide consensus. Since 12 noon is neither am nor pm, IMO it should only be called noon or midday, and if those words don’t translate into other languages, the whole problem is easily solved by making a minute adjustment (pun intended) to 11:59am or 12:01pm.

@DnT 1728 That is why I prefer the 24hr clock. 2400 is PM; 0000.01 is AM, also 1200 is AM; 1200.01 is PM. Trying to get world concensus on anything, would be more difficult thaan trying to herd cats, and not as rewarding.
