Looks a lot like one of those GOP election signs, which is appropriate because garbage is about all they’ve got left.

On the alley adjacent to my garage, the garage nearest the street has two garbage cans beside it. There is a sign telling people not to put their dog waste into the cans..

Yes indeed. Don’t throw it away.
Just kep giving it confusing instructions, so it wanders off, and lies down somewhere
Wrap your garbage up carefully, before putting in the bin.
Then ponder the thought. That even in a linguistically permissive day and age such as this, the term “tidy garbage”, is still an anachronism.

OK, I think I’ve waited most of the day to let folks post their humor before ruining it with factual info. So here goes.
The Japanese actually translates as “Every person, let’s carry our garbage home with us.” As in “Take individual responsibility and don’t leave your trash here”.
How Japanese. This kind of message is so culturally in keeping with their values.
As to WHERE the sign is located, it’s in the town of Chatan on Okinawa’s main island, north of Naha.

Reminds me of that SpongeBob episode (named Idiot Box) where SpongeBob and Patrick, his best friend, throw away a television to play with the box.
There’s a lesson to be learned here, everyone.

I’ve heard that Japan is surprisingly low on both litter and trash cans. Maybe this is why.
